VSO’s string orchestra is joined by The Moth Radio Hour guests from Vermont for a concert with storytelling at its heart. Music by Edvard Grieg, Edward Elgar, Derrick Jordan, Kelly-Marie Murphy and more are interspersed with and underscore storytelling about summer family camping adventures, a beauty pageant, road trips, and narration of Robert Frost and Calvin Coolidge writings. The concert concludes with Benjamin Britten’s Simple Symphony.

Livingston Taylor picked up his first guitar at the age of 13, which began a more than 50-year career that has encompassed performance, songwriting, and teaching. Born in Boston and raised in North Carolina, Livingston is the fourth child in a very musical family that includes Alex, James, Kate, and Hugh. Livingston recorded his first record at the age of 19 and has continued to create beautifully crafted, introspective,original songs as well as sparkling interpretations of the classic songbook that have earned him enthusiastic listeners worldwide.

Full Moon Treks

Head out on the trails surrounding Spruce Peak under the light of the full moon. Learn fun facts about each month's full moon as well as other astronomy facts as you go.
Depending on time of year and trail conditions Full Moon Treks may use snowshoes or ice spikes.

Spruce Loop Snowshoe

Take a Snowshoe tour of our community. This 1–2-mile tour spans the Spruce Peak Community.
Recommended: Dress in layers with waterproof snow or hiking boots.
Rated Easy - Beginner friendly! No experience necessary. Must be able to walk on mostly flat terrain with some ascents, descents and stairs. All ages welcome. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Explore Smugglers Notch by snowshoeing with our guides up the Sterling Pond Trail Head. Enjoy the captivating views of shier rock face covered in snow!
What to bring: Snow boots or hiking boots. Hat, water and sunglasses are recommended. Dress in layers. Camera optional.
Must be able to hike 2 to 3 miles on uneven terrain. Not recommended for someone that is uncomfortable with uneven ground.
