As the first ski resort community to receive the prestigious Audobon International Certification, Spruce Peak is proud to be the stewards and protectors of the wilderness we call home. Join our Outfitters team to learn more about the flora and fauna that share our community, as well as wilderness tips such as navigating via compass.
Spring Educational Programs
Starting April 9, 2024 through May 27, 2024
Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult for the following activities. Guides and instructors will have first aid kits on their person.
Intro to Fire Building
- Learn the basics on how to gather resources, and build and start a fire in a fashion that leaves minimal impact to the surrounding environment
- Closed-toe shoes required. All ages welcome.
Intro to Maps & Compasses
- Learn the basics of navigation using a topographic map and compass! This activity will take place outdoors using local landmarks like mountains, roads, creeks and buildings as reference points. By the end of this class you will be able to identify the features on a topographic map and understand the fundamentals of using a map and compass together.
- All ages welcome - recommended for ages 12 and up
Vermont Plant and Wildlife Identification
- An educational guided walking experience where guests can learn about the different native species of plants and animals that live here on our property.
- All ages welcome
