Golf Course

A modern course in a majestic setting

Nestled between Mt. Mansfield and Spruce Peak, the Bob Cupp signature golf course is 6,411 yards of perfection, clustered around and overlooking a glittering mountain lake and surrounded by 2,000 acres of protected wilderness. It is everything you love about resort golf—elevated to a new level.

Your Stowe Mountain Club membership includes all greens fees and offers all the amenities you'd expect—such as preferred tee times and special services—and more. Consult a pro on the finer points of the game. Celebrate the triumphs of the day from the relaxed grandeur of the golf cottage, with its members' grill and expansive veranda. Or simply revel in the quiet splendor of the long view up the Little River valley.

The course itself is a triumphant combination of strategic soundness, aesthetic excellence and technically perfect playability, with a breathtaking backdrop of alpine views accompanied by the music of mountain streams. The environmentally responsible design employs the sloping terrain in spectacular fashion, creating diverse shots throughout the par-72 course.

Stowe Mountain Club scorecard

While each hole is singularly beautiful and challenging, the fourth-the most demanding of the front nine-could only exist in New England. The back tee plays across a winding mountain road and the three forward tees are pedestals set on dramatic boulder walls, which are indigenous to Stowe. The hole is long iron yardage and slopes sharply down to the right of the bunkers. A line of trees stands behind the back slope, but the entire right side is an open meadow. A babbling brook crosses under the road and behind the forward tees, where it disappears into the trees to the right of the meadow.
